Facing Climate Change is Benjamin Drummond and Sara Joy Steele’s long-term documentary project that tells the story of global change through local people.

Beautifully, they tease out local stories from communities they come upon, the kind of stories society needs to know: “We have to learn them from each other, see them in the news, make art about them and discuss them in our schools. After all, people cause, face the consequences of, and must collectively stop this climate crisis. But to mobilize global effort we must generate local will.”

In Facing Climate Change, Drummond and Steele share tales, wild and tame, through photography and multimedia. Click here to dive into the human side of climate change, hearing personal accounts from the wildfire fighters of the American West, known affectionately as The Tinder People, the semi-nomadic Sámi Reindeer Herdsmen in the Arctic, “Fishermen of the North Atlantic,” “Volunteer Glacier Monitors in Iceland,” and – from 3,000 feet – Snowmaking at Snoqualmie. Riveting stuff.
